New Kings Of Leon Track-Radioactive

Written for the radio. Pretty unbearable.

(I gave it 3 listens just to make sure too)

Posing for Heat Magazine?

Back when they probably wouldn't have left the stage because of pigeons.

New Music #1 Warpaint

I bought Warpaint's 2008 EP 'Exquisite Corpse' a couple of months ago and now cannot wait for the debut album, 'The Fool' to be released next month. After hearing that John Frusciante had produced the album, and his Chili Peppers successor and close friend Josh Klinghoffer drummed on one of the tracks, I knew it would be worth a listen.

The EP shows off an arty-rock and experimental sound which at times is endearingly minimalist, yet overwhelmingly intense at others. Having supposedly formed on Valentines Day back in 2004, the female 4 piece from LA are now signed to Rough Trade and gaining the attention of the music press all over the shop. The dreamy vocals complement a driving bass to create an atmospheric feel that, when listened to loudly and alone, can make you feel rather spaced out and completely in your own zone. Guitar lines are simple yet work perfectly and the harmonies have a wonderfully eerie, if not haunting feel.

The band are about to embark on a tour supporting (Mercury Prize winners*) The XX and are set for a headline tour in late October. The 6 tracks on the EP should be enough to make you excited for the album.

There are, in my view, few bands out there like them.

*rant/blog on this decision in due course.
